Ball Mask
XXV
SuperHeroes
February 03, 2008 Sunday Evening 8 - 10 PM
The Alario Center, Westwego, Louisiana
Lord David Boyd, the Lord of Misrule sounded the whistle to begin
the celebration marking the Lords of Leather Silver Anniversary Ball
XXV.
The return of Lord King XXIV Danny Alford and Lord Consort XXIV
Danny Starns marked the beginning of the ball as the tableau was
presented. Our SuperHeroes theme kicked off with Aquaman who
also served as the Master of Ceremonies. The ultimate hero,
Superman, was presented by the Lord of MisRule (Ball Captain). The
sound of motorcycles echoed through the hall as Ghostrider
took the stage. From centuries ago, Conan the Barbarian made his way
along the runway with dragons and snakes. Then Spiderman was
brought to life, thanks to the krewe's west coast baron. The stage
was filled as the X-Men/Archangel made an exuberant entrance. From
the wild west, the Lone Ranger accompanied by the Cowpoke Dancers
had everyone hoopin and hollerin. Direct from Sherwood Forest, Robin
Hood and his band of merry men filled the runway as they belted
"We're men in tights." Miss Louisiana Leatherette 2008 presented
Catwoman direct from her kitty perch. Every costume was terrific but
when Spawn took center stage it was certainly a show stopper.
The Anniversary Ball culminated in the presentation of Lord King
XXV, Michael Ducote as Batman and Lord Consort XXV Doug Minich as
Robin. The traditional grand march closed out the night as the
krewe members celebrated 25 years of Leather, Love and Laughter.
Pictures will be posted soon.
Special thanks to:
Lord
David Boyd, the Lord of Misrule (Ball Captain)
Lord
Michael Ducote, Lord Temporal
(Ball Lieutenant)
and all the other krewe
members and volunteers who helped with the event.
